Well, I heard today is the day my boss is going to let people know if they are laid off or not. I thought my job was relatively safe (IT at Penn State) but my boss said about two months ago that we have to let 3-5 out of 16 go in our department. I just heard they let the entire mail room go just the other day.
Should be a fun day.

It wasn't related to the budget cuts, though, just didn't need him. |

What do you do? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I'm a Systems Administrator for the College of Agricultural Sciences. We are one of the bigger colleges at Penn State because we have the Cooperative Extension network. Cooperative Extension has an office in almost every county in PA to help connect Penn State to the people living in state. We support the networks and servers and whatnot in each county. |
Best of luck! Been on both sides of the coin, having the ax fall and being one of the survivors, happy to make the cut, but knowing that the next one will come. Its part of the IT industry
If you do make it, worth updating your resume just in case and start sending feelers out, even in a tough job market, time to sign up for something like linkedin. Also if you get a chance to take vendor classes, take all that you can, one you meet contacts and second helps with keeping skills updated. |
