Based on the county directly south of me....I just sat in on a roundtable of ex moonshiners and law men about a month ago and one of the Bondurant children was talking for her recently (this year) deceased father....the stories these guys told were amazing...they said the movie glorified it a little for the sake of the story but for the most part they were right on....especially on the scale at which they were (and still are if you know the right people  ) running these operations.....it is/was insane.....

Meh. Interestingly enough I live just one county over from Franklin County and I do 80% of my work there. There literally is a still for every hollow. But there is no "Franklin" in the county. Franklin, VA is near the coast. They did get Burnt Chimney right (birth place of Booker T. Washington).
