The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence united with the Million Mom March has launched a new Web site that highlights Rep. John Dingell's (D-MI) historic and prominent opposition to sensible gun laws.

Among the compelling material included on the Web site is a recent letter from Dingell, written in response to a supporter of gun violence prevention measures. In this letter, he distorts his voting record on gun control in an effort to appear moderate on the issue.

In truth, he has repeatedly opposed virtually every effort to strengthen our nation's gun laws. He voted against final passage of the Brady Bill. He vehemently opposed the inclusion of the Assault Weapons Ban in the 1994 Crime Bill, and he actually voted to repeal the Assault Weapons Ban in 1996.

The website is part of the Brady Campaign/MMM's efforts to educate voters about candidates' records on gun violence prevention measures. Rep. Dingell is facing Rep. Lynn Rivers (D-MI) in an August 6th primary. We must elect politicians who will work to pass the sensible gun laws that will keep Americans safe from gun violence.

This is more important now, than ever. The Congress that we elect this November will decide the fate of the Assault Weapons Ban (AWB). As you may know, the AWB will expire in September 2004, unless it is renewed by Congress. We need to elect lawmakers who will fight tooth and nail to preserve this critical, lifesaving measure.

rep. dingell will be at my girlfriend's sisters wedding this winter. i'll have to congradulate him.

i believe MCRGO (mich. coalition of repsonsible gun owners) just gave him a legistlative award too. he's quite possibly the coolest democrat yet?

Have you been following the goings on of MCRGO lately? Seems to be a lot of dissention in the ranks. I let my membership drop due to my opposition of something they did not to long ago. A lot of members and some former members are hanging out here [url]http://www.mgouc.com/phpBB2/index.php[/url] now that the MCRGO site has gone tango uniform.

Should be real interesting to see how it all shakes out in the end.

What world do these people live on. NO laws will keep you "safe" from violence.

The bear is Brady's nicknamed because some people thinks he looks like an overstuffed teddy bear(blah, blah).

One thing for sure, the gunners have their work cut off for them in the coming fall elections. The trials and tribulations at MCRGO is nothing new for an organization that is basically grassroots. If people don't join MCRGO, what are they going to do to in its place help further the pro-gun cause? Because if you stand there with your finger in your 'hole, the anti-gunners will surely win.

Hmmm, guess I should start calling myself Charles "Drew Carey" Wahl...hehe.
When I used to work for a movie theater with my size and my bow tie and white shirt and glasses (although they weren't dark colored like his0 I kind of looked like a very young Drew Carey...hehe.
