You can keep your lagers, I prefer a nice dopplebock or an Oktoberfest. Full bodied and dark, nothing like a lager. ??

Kolsch is one of my favorite homemade beers - but so is Imperial Stout. Then again I love homemade lagers also. In fact they are ALL good! https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/20962/146519570_4yTNtlcd_jpg-1003139.JPG View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I've seen too many empty carboys break at the neck to trust them. I use the Brew Hauler to move my carboys, empty or full. You are correct - which is why I said that I also like homemade lagers View Quote First time I ever did a beer, I bought a kölsch kit at the LHBS, guy asked what kind of yeast I wanted, then starts drilling me on my setup (not dickishly, just info gathering since it was obvious I was a beer newb). "I just want the right yeast." "How cold is your basement?" "Any temp I set the controller to." "Ah! You need the lager yeast!" He didn't know I was already set up for wine production :) |

Fully Agreed!
Fuck your chocolate/oatmeal/coffee stout bullshit! Bring me back Lowenbrau you sons of bitches! |
|
There are plenty of ales that I find "crisp and refreshing" - hard to beat a Belgian wit or German hefeweizen on a hot day.

Wrong. All beers that are not made by AB Inbev, Miller Coors, and the like are good.

Give me a good old Messcan beer....or a German style Bock if I am drinking it with a heavy meal. I dont need my beer to taste like oatmeal, chocolate, pine needles, or yesterday's grass clippings. I don't want my beer to be 14% ABV, and I shouldnt have to chew it.

There is no best style. There is just (to a degree) the best style for the context. The awesome variety is part of what makes drinking beer so wonderful.

Others IPad at the bottom I've had homeless dudes give me shitty beer in the park, and I've had people tired of lugging good beer while hiking give me that. IPAs aren't my favorite usually, but there are many examples that I enjoy very much. |

I agree with OP. Lager is most excellent.
But Hefeweizen will forever be my favorite. |

Boring lagers fit right in with boring suburban life.
OP is one of those lame suburban guys. |

I like Belgian whites, kolsch and hefe. IPA is disgusting.
ETA and Coors original whatever the hell it is. |

IPA's are good, but sours and gose style beers is what I am currently enjoying.
A good gose beats the shit out of a lager for a post lawnmowing beer. |

Doppelbocks, which are "double lagers", are better. Eisbocks, which are doppelbocks that have been frozen and had the ice pulled, are the best though.
