J_Smith and I are expecting our first kid!! seriously, this is me right now ----> We're going to break the news to our parents on Christmas Advice for the long pregnancy? I'm not due until August 31!!! Thanks |

Congratulations! As my mother always said, pregnancies in her day lasted 6 months. you called the doctor the first time you missed, and he would say "call me in a month if you miss another". Then, you called the next month when you missed, and he'd say "ok, call me next month". Then, the third month, you'd call again, and the doctor would say "well, I'm thinking you're pregnant. Why don't you set up an appointment with the secretary and we'll do a test". lol. Stay healthy, and take care of yourself! Merry Christmas to you and the family! |
haha! I would die! I'm really glad we have so long to prepare.. Hard to believe I'm only two weeks along though, geesh... The worst thing so far is that coffee has made me really sick, so no coffee throughout the whole pregnancy....we'll see how that goes

Congrats! ![]() Things sure will be different in your life from here on out, that's for sure! You wanted advice? ![]() Start taking your prenatal vitamins now (hopefully you have been anyway, since that folic acid thing really needs to be in your system in the first couple months- that's the time it's most critical to development.) I believe the consensus last time we had the discussion was 'no more shooting' until you've had the kid. Mainly because of the lead, but some women worry about the noise too. You can still CCW (of course), but maybe you're going to have to cut out those trips to the range for awhile. Exercise NOW too. Even if it's just making sure you're walking a bit everyday. Slacking off now will only make it that much harder to lose that 'baby weight' after you have the baby. And you're not going to want to start a new program when you're 6 or 8 months into this. Start taking some pictures too! I always thought those pictures taken showing the whole pregnancy growth were fun.... you know what I'm talking about? Stand against the same wall, turned to the side, and take a picture like that once a week. You'll get to see the whole progress by the time you're done! I wish I had done it.... Oh- and enjoy yourself! I personally *hated* being preggers, but the kiddos make it all worth it! Good luck! And congrats again! |
I found out with both of mine when I was about two weeks and it made pregnancy seem like eternity! |
B_H covered the bases pretty well. I was going to recommend the pre-natal vitamins too--the sooner, the better! Congratulations! Next year this time, you'll be celebrating baby's first Christmas. |

Thanks for all the advice!! I've been taking prenatal vitamins, just in case, for awhile now, and I'm going to the gym at least every other day... No way I'm gaining more than I have to! I am pretty depressed about the no shooting part, but that's okay, it will be worth it. I can shoot late next year. I am DEFINITELY still going to CCW though.. Especially where I work in a law office and deal with felons all day. I'm DYING to tell our parents, it's really hard to wait for Christmas, especially when they call or stop by... The reactions had better be worth it! haha ETA: I posted under my husband's name again - sorry |
Based solely on that, I would say you have nothing to fear. Congrats!!!! |
Strangely enough my B-day too Congrats Toad |
First see your doctor asap, drink lots of water and orange juice, if you can't stomach the orange juice then eat oranges. Get the book "What to Expect When You are Expecting" very good and very informative book. Make sure that you see the doctor every month as scheduled. Make sure that you try and stay away form restrictive clothing this is more for comfort on your part than anything else. More woman than not do not like having things tight on her belly. I am a full-time student studying maternal and infant care. If you have any questions or just want to talk feel free to contact me at any time. AR15-Sweety |
