MrGH incurred an injury at work a little over a mth and a half ago. The injury left him very sore in his left shoulder and not long after that his hand started getting numb and tingly, he has pretty much lost all strength in his left hand. (He is left handed btw)

So work has finally sent him off to a specialist, he's been thru x-rays and an MRI and finally they have diagnosed him. He has a torn rotator cuff, had a dislocation of the shoulder which also tore ligaments and cartilage. The tears leaked fluid which formed a cyst under his arm, resting on the nerves for the arm and hand. The doc says we definately have to operate on the cyst, which will put him out of work for 4-8 weeks. The rotator cuff is a small tear and will be determined if that needs surgery in 2 weeks. If that needs surgery, we could be looking at 6 mths he is off work!

We really aren't worried about missing work as it is a workmans comp issue and we will be getting a paycheck, and I can go back to work while he is off if need be.
The biggest disappointment comes from the fact the Doctor has told him our hunting trip is off for this year. We had planned to go to Arkansas with friends and meet up with one of his childhood friends who is serving in the Marines, stationed in TX right now,  for the hunt. The Doc says he just won't be ready after having either surgery to hunt in Nov.  This blows as it is all he has been talking about for the last 3 mths or more.

Right now pain control and the fear of surgery is what Iam most concerned with. I'll update as I know more. Thank you ladies in advance.

Good will come from this.

There is something better around the corner, but it takes going through this to handle the future.

Prayers sent.

Stay strong, be positive, he'll need you to be a rock for him.

Oh no, you guys sure have had your string of things.  Hang in there.  I had a similar injury [albeit not nearly as bad] and my natural pathic doc upt my intack of Flaxseed Oil and Vitamin E.  Its amazing how just that little thing immediately sped up my body's ability to heal itself.  Granted mine wasn't as severe as MrGH's but it might help to make him swollow a few of those horse pills.

I keep looking for the good around the corner, but as Patty said, we have had a bad string of things lately. I have faith though that it will get better and the trials and tirbulations to get us there only make US stronger. He's my rock when I need him, I am his rock when he needs me. thx bvm

Hubby had rotator cuff surgery,it is a total of a year before he is fully recovered. It was/is alot of Physical Therapy too. His had to be pinned and screwed also, but there is no way even now he can shoot. He is just now getting some strength back. He lost alot of muscle from it. He couldn't move his arm for 6 weeks or drive even. I wish you luck and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Ok, I don't usually stick my nose inwhere it doesn't belong, but I'm going to suggest you look into magnets as part of the recovery process. I know it sounds nuts, but they are supposed to increase blood flow to the affected area and help the damage to heal faster.

I can testify that a toe broken on the bedpost in the dark was healed, with no pain whatever, the following morning. My wife, with a nasty bruise on her inside forearm from her bow, went from black to little more than yellow, overnight.

I know of people who have cancelled their carpal tunnel operation.

Can't hurt to look into it, can it? I got ours from a company called Nikken, although their are no doubt other companies supplying them by now.

Hope this helps, and God bless.
