ARFCOM 308 Site dead, maybe some help here!!!!!!
I picked up a barrel nut, handguard, and barrel (used) at LGS. Bought upper from ARF EE a DPMS Slick-side. While hand screwing on Barrel nut to upper, it will only go this far (see pic's) before become impossible to tighten any further by hand. Is this normal? Thanks for any help!!!!!! Jon

This hand guard that DPMS sells looks exactly like the one I have.

If so I can't understand why it won't thread on past three threads. The upper was from a rifle that was never fired but taken apart for a different upper. The threads don't appear to be buggered. |

I would take the barrel off and then use some lapping compound on the threads and work the handguard on. But eventually you are going to need the 308 barrel wrench. And check out 308AR.com |
