Does anyone know of a source for discounted .223 and .40 for LEOs? My dept. only gives us like 2 boxes/year. Just wondering if there was anything like that out there or if I have to suck it up and pay the full price like the lowly "civilians"

Hunting Shack out of Stevensville, MT gives discounts to LEOs for ammo. Their website is www.thehuntingshack.com Don't know how the price would pan out after shipping. Outdoor marksman has some good prices on ammo for everybody. Again need to calculate based on the shipping and decide if it is worth it compared to what it costs to get it local. |
I emailed them.. we'll see how thier prices are. I can still get Blazer for $140 for a case of .40s and $160 for a case of 45s... thats the chepaest I've found. |
2 a year ?!?! That's rediculous. My department gives us a box a month. |
Where ya getting that price? |
Yeah, it's ridiculous...we don't get any...at all, with the exception for qualifications. One of the local gun stores gives LE/FF/EMT/MIL 10% off, so I buy my ammo by the case there. 500 rounds of .40cal FMJ (WW White Box or Remington UMC) is about $90 cash & carry. |
At least you get something, my department does not give us ANY to practice with! Chief is afraid of the "liability" of just handing out ammo. |
| Our department only gives us 30 a year (only what we shoot at annual requals). The handful of us assigned to federal task forces shoot once a quarter. Other than that, I personally order from Cabela's and Midway freight collect to this little rock in the Pacific Ocean. Gun dealer's out here give a 50% mark-up, so their 10% LEO discount sucks wind. |
Tell that to the Chief. I pretty sure there are other departments in the area that give out practice ammo, all he would have to do is to get a copy of their policy and tailor it to ourt dept. Also, as the saying goes in our department "we have been doing it that way for years, why change now?" |
