I know with UPS all you do is tell them what it is and they put a label on it and that's it.

uPs ground.  its a Cure-all

AT least if we got all the ammo under one roof, everyone could be on the same page.

Shipping is a PITA, but then its kind of a pain to ship a rifle too.  Doesnt seem to stop people from jumping through those hoops though

Include it in with the Reloading forum in the EE, call it the EE-Ammo/ Reloading Supplies Forum, and I'm in for a +1.

Ammo is not hazmat. It's ORM-D. Tell UPS what's in it, mark it appropriately, and no extra hassle.

Why not have an ammo section in the EE??

Just as the UPS people act like they don't know their polices and procedures, I act like I don't either.  There is a little independent shipping store owned by some pro-gun country folks that NEVER ask me what I'm shipping.  I just tell them how I want it shipped, they take the money and it arrives at it's destination.  I've shipped all kinds of legal things there that I'm sure the idiots at UPS would freak out over if I took it to them.

I have nothing against an ammo forum but there will be problems with people getting ripped off, more so than in other EE forums.  "Well, the guy I bought it from said it was Chinese steelcore."  Caveat Emptor

I guess it would be a good place for people to sell the bogus reloaded ammo.

Anyone selling products that turn out to be not as advertised, won't last very long around here I reckon. Seems to me the great majority of folks on ARFCOM hold themselves to a pretty high standard.

I'm always interested in deals on ammo by case. If we could get some dealers into the ammo section then I'd likely make regular use of the area. If it was just private individuals selling 20-30 misc. rounds here and there, I'd have no use for it at this time.

I voted yay, since it's definitely an idea with potential.
Also since dealers in the EE have been good to me thus far.

Not true.  Many UPS employees don't know their own policies when it comes to shipping ammo (not to mention firearms).  If you haven't had any issues with them then count yourself fortunate.

The UPS facility at Maerell Rd. and Walnut Hill Rd. is very good about shipping ammo and firearms.  The only problems I've had is with newbs there, and they just ask the boss.  They never make a big deal out of it.  It also helps that the boss and two of the front counter guys are gun nuts and visit this very board.

Safe to say that I could buy from you too.  However.........I dont have the back for walking a couple miles with an arms full of ammo.  I'd need a shipping quote.

now a Note to the people who vote -1 :

I dont see any increased risk with dealing ammo in the EE.  People get burned every day.  Its all a matter of how you conduct your buying and selling.  I've had it happen to me before too, honeslty all you can do is just press.

Comm'on guys!  Lets get it up there!

I've never been burned dealing with anyone on forums. There has been one or two hiccups sure, but always washed out to the satisfaction of both parties. Feedback is important, as is communication from the start... if you have a question always ask it.

I'd like to hear some opinions on why buying ammo from forums may pose a risk.  Seriously... I ask because I really don't know. Is it reloads that are the concern here? Please fill me in.

If we could get good ammo dealers on board for this, then we have the potential for getting good deals from reputable folks, right? Look at 44mag.com for example. Ammo dealers also means more advertisers on the forum so thats a win-win.

I'd like to also hear some of the staff opinions. I admit, I'm surprised that an ammo forum in the EE does not already exist. I think theres gotta be a reason for that?
