Random question for some of the LEO's out there.
Hypothetically speaking of course.  If you pulled someone on a motorcycle over and they had a legal bike. legal plates, and current tags but NO motorcycle endorcement/permit.  What would your actions be?  Ticket, Fine, Impound, Nothing??

also, are you more likely to pull someone over in a car of on a bike.
Thank you very much.

The answer to this is very simple.........

Depends.

EDIT:  For those that don't know what "depends" means then here's an illustration.

SCENARIO 1:

Pull over bike.  Walk up to bike.
[Me] Good afternoon Sir, I stopped you because you have no brake light on this bike.

[You]  Really?  I just bought the bike sir and I really didn't know.  I've only had it a week.

[Me]  That's understandable.  Do you have your license, registration, and insurance?

[you]  Yes sir, here it is.

noticing there is no MC endorsement

[Me]  Sir, I see you have no MC endorsement.  Do you realize that is a criminal traffic offense? You could be taken to jail and have your MC impounded.

[You]  Sir, I had no idea.....insert line of BS here whatever it is.......I'm sorry sir.  I guess I'm a dummy.  I'll be getting that right away.

[Me]  Listen, you need to get that and get that brake light fixed....some other driver out here might wind up rear-ending you and killing you.  Motorcyclists don't usually "win" those encounters.

handing back papers.

[You] Yes sir. Thank you

[Me] Be careful.

End result.  Verbal warning and perhaps a little verbal chastisment

SCENARIO 2:

Pull over bike.  Walk up to bike. Before I get a chance to say anything...

[You]  What?

[Me] Sir, turn off the bike.

[You] WHY?

[Me] Sir, turn off the bike.

[You] Whatever dude, you don't have to act like a dick.

[Me] Sir stay on the bike!

[you] WTF dude, relax!  WTF did I do?

[Me] Do you have your license, registration, and insurance?

[you] with out saying a word proceed to get off the bike after I told you not to.

[Me] I SAID STAY ON THE BIKE!

[You] What the fuck is your problem man?! I'm getting what you asked for. It's under the fucking seat man.

[me] Do you have any weapons in there or anything I need to know about?

[You] I'm not a fucking criminal dude.

[Me] That's not what I asked.  Do you have any weapons?

[You] No.

[Me] Please step off the bike and get your license, reg, and ins then.

getting your things and then handing them to me in a pissy way with a 'fuck you' look

[Me] Sir, stay here and I'll be right back.

go back to car and write criminal ticket with court date for no MC endorsement and citation for whatever it was I pulled you over for.

[Me] Sir this is a criminal citation for no MC endorsement.  You have to appear on this date....

interrupting

[You] What the FUCK!  I have a license! That's bullshit man!

[me] Sir, you need to sign here at the bottom and...

[You] I'm not signing that.  That's Bullshit.

[Me]  Sir refusal to sign is a criminal violation. By signing you are not admitting guilt. You are agreeing to show up at this court date.

[You] Fuck that. That's bullshit.

[Me] into radio Dispatch, send me one more for backup. to be a witness if I have to whip your ass

backup arrives

[Me] Sir, turn around and place your hands behind your head.

[You] What?.....

[Me] Sir, turn around and place your hands behind your head. You're under arrest.

[You] What? No wait, I....

[Me] Too late.  Put your hands behind your head.

[you] What the fuck man....I didn't do anything....I didn't...

you are promptly stuffed in handcuffs and recieve a little assistance directly proportionant to your level of resistance and ass-hattery.

[Me] into radio  Send a flatbead tow....it's for a MC.

[i]You then cry like a little bitch in the back of my car all the way to jail proclaiming you didn't do anything and this is unfair. [/span]

And for those that DO think this is unfair, I remind you to go review SCENARIO 1 again.  Life is what you make it.

And BTW SCENARIO 2 almost played out exactly like that a couple years back.

You wouldn't drive a car without getting a license first.  What would make you ride a bike without getting the MC first?

The reason they have a law on it is because riding a bike is DANGEROUS if you don't know what you're doing.

Learn to ride, get the MC endorsement, and obey the traffic rules.  Simple really.

This is funny, LEO6223, I might be able to dig out the video of scenario 2 from last summer!  Except there was a portion of the transcript missing about how when I was arresting him for NO DL (Suspended), NO Insurance and having someone elses plates on his bike, he started a non-sensical rant about why I was arresting him and not out arresting illegal mesicans.  ROFL!

Oh and by the way.  Its worthy of cite because its the same as driving with no DL in WY.   Plus I know our judge MIGHT treat it like a fix it ticket and dismiss/reduce if the offender shows up in court with a valid DL.  The goal is of course voluntary cooperation with the law.

Please refer to SCENARIO 1 and 2.

The proper response would be "I'm here because I'm a complete ass-hat with zero social skills and the ability to interact on a civil level with others.  Oh, and I was too lazy to follow the rules everyone follows."
