Ughhh, I hated riding on those things! First time wasn't so bad, crew chief stuck me up in the furthest back seat in the cockpit. Everytime after that...blech. Had to ride one into Djibouti, it was a 45-50 minute ride (or at least felt that way). Whole time we were riding the swells, up and nose down, up and nose down...I was doing everything I could not to puke in my cover. It's never felt better to set foot on dry land, even if it was into 95 degree heat at 0100. Last time I rode one was in the troop shell or whatever they call that thing. It's nearly as miserable as being down in one of the compartments...except wetter!  Sorry, but I'll take an LCU any day. |
