Well, its said in jest when someone disagrees with another individual.  Say you have someone who has a strong passion for Colt firearms.  And that is all they talk about is how great Colt is.  And if you own another brand of firearm, they tell you how crappy it is compared to Colt.

You in turn would retort, "Keep drinking the Colt Kool-Aid."  In reference to being brainwashed by Colt.

As stated in an above post, Jim Jones and his group of followers committed mass suicide in South America by drinking poisoned Kool-Aid.  That's where the reference comes from.

ETA: Wow, I thought I'd have the third post.  Is the site slow or is it just me.  And why the hell isn't my avatar showing up!?

From Wikipedia:

"Drinking the Kool-Aid" is also now closely associated with the 1978 cult mass-suicide/murder in Jonestown, Guyana. Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple, convinced his followers to move to Jonestown. Late in the year he then ordered his flock to commit suicide by drinking grape-flavored Flavor Aid laced with potassium cyanide. In what is now commonly called the "Jonestown Massacre," a large majority of the 913 people later found dead drank the brew. (The discrepancy between the idiom and the actual occurrence is likely due to Flavor Aid's relative obscurity versus the easily recognizable Kool-Aid.)

One lasting legacy of the Jonestown tragedy is the saying, "Don't drink the Kool-Aid." This has come to mean, "Don’t trust any group you find to be a little on the kooky side," or "Whatever they tell you, don't believe it too strongly."

I've also used/heard it referenced in the reverse--as in, "You need to drink the Kool-Aid," as in put aside your disagreements (even though you're probably right), get brainwashed and agree with me/us/him/them.

Most of the time I heard this in military meetings, where someone is asking you to agree with the boss.  Even though we all agree the idea is stupid, we need to drink the Kool-Aid, agree with him and make it happen.

I'm glad to see my comment spawned a whole new thread.

It meant "get fucking real", Bushmaster hasn't even made the item you recommended.

It meant, that Bushmaster's hold on you shouldn't be THAT strong.

Yep, your response reminded me, that I have been meaning to ask this question for some time, but keep forgetting to.
As for the Bushy.  I just found out about it today.  Opened up the box that my new M4 barrel was shipped in and there with it was a new Bushy catalog.  With a pic of the "new  45 Bushmaster" displayed on the first few pages.  That's all I know about it at this time.  Guess I better go have another serving of Kool-Aid!
