Shocker, another Kayfun question thread.

First one, Tobecco KFL+ is seeping pretty regularly and when it gets more than halfway empty it leaks from the air hole unless I keep using it (in which case it works fine).  Don't know where is seeping from as the fill hole screw had an o-ring on it and the airflow grub screw is in, could be through the center post but I don't really know.  The leaking is beyond me.

Second, authentic Russian will get dry hits.  The bandaid fix I've been doing is to just unscrew the top section about 1/4-1/2 turn to create some suction, which works until the wick dries out again in a few hits.  The problem starts to go away as the tank empties.  Otherwise it's flawless.

Both are being filled from the bottom and wicked with cotton.  What am I doing wrong?  On an unrelated note, my Mini's have been perfect.

Pictures of wick set-up? (both a picture from the top with the collar/cylinder surrounding the coil/wick setup on, and another picture with the cylinder removed - hopefully showing how the wicks are tucked in, and how far above the air hole the coil is).

…I'm asking because it sounds like you aren't setting up the wicks properly.

This is a curious question.

The problem I was having that was similar to yours was fixed by proper wick length, wetting it before final assembly, and pushing the wick down to the fill channels.

That's all I have for you, but am interested in what actually fixes it.

Is the center post tight?  Maybe buy one of those KFL center posts that was posted for ~$5ish.

Pics will have to come later as I'm at work.

I may have figured out the KFL+ leaking problem.  When I got to work today I took the KFL off and put the Russian on.  Figuring it would leak as it was a little less than half full, I put it upside down in a Jwraps cup mod holder.  Just went out to lunch and the tank was empty and the mod holder had about a ml in it.  This leads me to believe that the o-ring the chimney goes into isn't tight enough.  That wouldn't allow for a proper vacuum and let liquid into the barrel and down the air hole, right?  Hope that logic makes sense.

Yep. Based on your description, the top o-ring would be the prime suspect. About the only other possibility is that it leaked out of the join between the tank and the top cap.

Possible, but I think if that were the case I would have a lot more consistent gurgling.

If your kayfun clone has large juice channels and you are using micro doils you need to wet the wick and place the tips into the juice channels a couple of millimeters before screwing on the chamber cover cylinder piece.   It will stop the leaking. The clones I have will do the same thing if I dont wick it like that.

That's the only way I wick it.  Just easier for me and I can function test the coil at every step.

Aaand I horribly misread that.  My process for wicking goes like this...  Juice the wick, coil fires fine.  Push wick onto the shelf.  Screw on the barrel, fire again, no shorts.  Screw on the chimney, vape from chimney, still no shorts.  Finish assembly and fill, gtg.  It's like function checking a 1911 after a thorough cleaning.  I will try a longer wick when I finish the tank off.

Ill start a thread with pictures when I get home.  Seems to happen a lot with several brands of clones.

Also, that doesn't explain why it would empty itself when stored upside down.

Actually, if the KFL+ is put together out of order, it does.
Been through that.
Found out if you put the top on last instead of sticking the chimney into the top, then it will leak like a sieve.
I have the same clone as the OP and one day I didn't tighten down the top TIGHT to the chimney/tank then tightened the top on last, it dislodges the O ring
