I just ordered a Solidoodle 3!!!!!!!

http://store.solidoodle.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=79

I have 8-10 weeks to get good at 3d modeling.

I am going to use google sketchup for now. Any recommended modeling programs?

Also is there an AR15.com of 3d printing?

Solidworks is my favorite.  You can get it cheap if you are a student (or know one), and there may be ways to get an illegally downloaded copy

I use Alibre Design for my 3d printing models.  They often run sales for $100 for their base version.  It's fully parameterized.  Great if you are making parts.  Not the best for artistic things.  They have a free 30-day trial.

I'm not sure of your intended use.

Never done it, but from the size and higher infill for strength, I'd guess 6-8 hours.
