So far I've rounded up three covers performed by Johnny Cash of "heavy" songs...

1) Rusty Cage by Soundgarden
2) Hurt by Nine Inch Nails
2) Thirteen by Danzig

I'm not a country fan and while I like some of Cash's work, I haven't started to really appreciate his music until I heard the first of these covers just a couple of months before he passed. I'd like to listen to any other covers done by Johnny Cash of "heavy" or "hard" rock/alternative/metal music. Anyone know of any others?

He and Bob Dylan were pretty tight back in the 60's and they did each other's songs.

Not heavy, but "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by S&G.

When he performed "Hurt" I realized how good a musician he was. To take a song like that, and turn it into his own, even better than the original, is proof of a gift. They say that when Trent Reznor saw the video he cried. I'm getting chills just thinking about the song.

I have a great MP3 of the band +Live+ doing I Walk The Line in concert.  Not super-heavy, but a good cover in their style.
