ibtl, can't be quoting people who say bad things about islam - even if they did heroic deeds for America.

Yeah, that Adams guy is just a troll. It's not like he was a scholar or founding father of our country. He was just stirring it up.

I propose we strip this extremists name from the history books.  Nay, I demand it!

There was no 6th President of the U.S.

Another soon to be banned member of ARFCOM weighing in on the subject of Islam...

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity.

The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome."

-Sir Winston Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50 (London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899).

This "Churchill" fellow better watch his step, lest he hurt someone's delicate feelings & get his account locked.

How can you dare to roll your eyes at that, when Aimless took the first excuse to lock my topic on this quote?

btw, the quote is referenced in Robert Spencer's new book - "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) " - www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0895260131/ref=wl_it_dp/102-4632149-8860918?%5Fencoding=UTF8&coliid=I2DE6UMSD6PQRE&v=glance&colid=QWZ1BSZYG6VW

It's #17 on the New York Times Book List - which is laughable as hell, since the NYT is so intent on concealing the fanaticism within Islam.

And it's bouncing around near the top of Amazon's rankings list.

The American people are learning the truth about radical Islam / Islamofascism, despite the MSM's attempts to cover for it, LLLiberals knee-jerk 'all cultures are equal' - or some Ar15.com moderators attempts to stop discussion of it. - I mean WTF is with some moderators of a board about the Evil Black Rifle being Politically Correct?

I am glad Churchill was not politically correct, and spoke the truth.  He summed it up quite nicely.

+1.  It takes a man of conviction to take stand for what is right even if it unpopular at the time.  Too bad there aren't more men like him today.

The truth is the truth.  Churchill's observations are very accurate, they could have easily been written yesterday and would be just as accurate.  It is too bad that so many folks have bought into political correctness.  Sometimes the truth does indeed hurt feelings, but it must be told.

I am sure Neville Chamberlain thought Churchill was a bit extreme in his views regarding Hitler, but he hit the nail on the head on that one, too.  There are also a lot of Neville Chamberlains today, who seek to "appease" and retreat from saying the truth, because it is not "enlightened" -- Neville believed he was a very "enlightened" individual, until the bombs starting falling on Poland.
