damn, at sears a couple days after the attack, I got a 3'x5' flag, 6 foot pole to mount it on, and 4 little flags like people hold at parades, all for about $30
|

I think it is wrong at this time to profit off our flag. Now selling them for cost plus shipping would be a very american thing to do.

If they really wanted to make money, they'd mark the price up to $21 and then advertise that $1 would be contributed to the NY emergency workers fund. And people wouldn't critisize them either. I don't hate capatilism, I just hate when someone doesn't get it right [:D]

you got it, it is ok to make some money but to go crazy at a time like this, let some of the proceeds go to a good cause, and then no complaints

There is a little known law in MA (maybe other states as well?) that you can't charge state sales tax on an American flag. I love telling store personnel this, they have no clue what to do.

And actually it's not price gouging (sp). The people don't really need the flags. It's not like they are selling bottled water to drought victims for $20/gal.
As far as "profiteering" is concerned, it would depend on your interpretation of commodities. |
