Is the main battle rifle in the Russian Army still the AK-47 or do the consider the AK-74 thier main Weapon.

the AK47 is very much still in use, and probably always will be, but probably more so with new recruits, while the specialized units would be using the AK74

well if you want to be specific, AK47 is the "generic" term for all 7.62 caliber AK's

AKM would be more correct and is what most people here are refering to when they talk about russia currently still using the AK47

true, the original milled Ak47 is no longer made, and probably hasnt seen much action since the early days of vietnam9if any at all), the stamped AKMs are the guns that have been seen most often in movies and combat, and incorrectly termed Ak47
