| Is it wrong if a service you pay for doesn't serve you unless you have their service card on hand when they need it? |
Actually, its my chow hall on campus. I left my card in the barracks(I'm a cadet) which is a good long walk away. I had class is 15 mins and didn't have time to run back to get my card. So the card reader refuses to let me in because of a "new policy." So she says go in and ask the main cook, so I went in, sat down, eat a bowl of cereal really quick, got up and left. The whole time she was giving me the eye of death... Whats funny is the chow hall card readers always would just ask for your 9 digit card number if you forgot it and enter that in. That usually takes 5 secounds and no one was behind me. Because of this im in trouble with my cadet first sergeant and have to have to have my hand held as she takes me down there in 15mins to apologize and give them a written letter of apology... Updates incoming... |
You fail...It's called personal responsibility. Seriously, we have to have our IDs to even GET INTO the chow hall over here. Of course, that's a Force Protection measure, but it's not going to hurt this guy to suffer a little so he learns his lesson and doesn't forget his friggin' card. A little tough love never hurt anyone, especially in the military. |
I agree its my responsibility to carry that card to the chow hall, and tough love is an effective tool to teach responsibilty. Howvever, I pay $1,300 there to eat on my college campus for one semester. |
You're asked to prove you paid to eat there. I don't really see the problem with making sure you have your card. For them to have no other way to check you out is... odd... but if you had just 15mins, imagine if there were 5 ppl in front of you with no cards, and you get to stand there for 5mins each while they're checked out. Sound good? Carry the card. |
Is this cadet first sergeant just another cadet like you? I don't know if I could put up with someone like that. It seems a little excessive to have to write up an apology letter. By the way, get used to carrying that card around. You will need your military ID every where you go once you get in. |
Yeah, she is a cadet just like me. I'm used to carrying my military ID around because I'm already enlisted in the Guard. I got a hijack my own thread now. My new question is... How do you .mil personnel deal with horrible leadership? Do you just play the game? |
Play the game. It is the only one in town. |
