Sure the hell seems like it with all the celebrating all over Iraq, including Baghdad. |

None of the minders of the reporters showed up today either.. Iraq has freedom of the press.. Although, with some of the dicks they have in there (peter arnette, etc) they may not want it, lol... Maybe they'll loot his cameras and lock him in the secret police prison the brits found earlier... |

What? Nobody liked my joke?!?! Quoted: Did you guys see them show the fat guy lift his robe and rub his privates on a huge picture of Saddam!? (couldn't see anything, shoot was from behind) [LOL] That was so damn funny. Did you see the look on his face afterwards? "Holy shit, I can't believe I just did that!!" Boy was that some nervous laughter on his part. [:D] |
| It's a long way from over. Saddam may be dead, but now we own Iraq and it's ours to put back together. Much like climbing Mt Everest, we have made it to the summit, but it is still a long and dangerous way down. Our whole Middle East strategy depends on how well we manage a post-war Iraq. If we do it right, the result will likely be a dramatic transformation of entire middle east. If Iraq descends into chaos, the result will likely be increased hostility, fundementalism, and risk of terrorism throughtout the region and against the United States. The fighting may be (nearly)over, but the true battle is just beginning. |
| Man, I'm happy for those poor folks! Hopefully, they will be one of our best allies once this is all said and done. I wish them well. I just hope the different factions can come together and have a stable democracy. Might be a nice place to vacation some day..... |

Well said H46Driver, ...but could hold of on the pee until I get my umbrella?[:D] Seriously, I know it's a long way from over, I'm just glad to see the people finally not having fear lurking over them any more.[:)] |
| Sweep, I too am happy for the people of Iraq and their newfound freedom. It is pretty important though to realize that we now need to be in Iraq for the long haul. This isn't Clinton's airstrike slap on the wrist. Regime change is a very risky, but potentially very rewarding course of action. It will be costly, in terms of effort and commitment, even if Iraqi oil revenues are used to defer some of the cost. |

Quoted: Sure the hell seems like it with all the celebrating all over Iraq, including Baghdad. Well, it looks like Saddam and his crew were genuine bad guys like we haven't seen for a long time. Our people have done a fantastic job, now it's gonna be interesting watching the aftermath... |
