How can a community of humanity's best and brightest make the same darned mistake every 10 years, like clockwork, for 60 years and never catch on to it?

Are we screwed?

I'm being cryptic for a reason.  But haven't you noticed that people can never seem to learn from the mistakes of others?

NwG, get that crap off my thread!

I had to suffer through a Barney phase about ten years ago.  I was hoping Barney was now as forgotten as Howdy Doody.

Nein, Mein Fuhrer!

The point is so that we can share stories about people trying to do things when they should know better.

Proving the rant by demonstration?

No, people make dumb threads more than once every 10 years.

I often wonder the same thing, man. After they finally discovered the mistake, why did they switch back, only to make the same mistake again? I mean...damn! It was supposed to be done the other way the whole time! Shit, it's in the SOP. Morons! Well, what can ya do? That whole thing's been a clusterfuck from the get-go, anyway. Just thinking about all that gives me a headache.

Oooooohhhhhh!  We're supposed to wax philosophical about how the human animal never seems to learn, as a species, from it's mistakes...to expound upon the tragic comedy of errors that we call "life"!

Yeah.  Folks are pretty damn stupid.

In other words, this is a Darwin Award thread? Why didn't you say so in the first place?

I did it again?
