I heard about this on the radio today.
Is He Safe Or Out? I’m calling him safe. |
|
If I done duped, oh well. Only thing I could think to search for was the word "safe." What's the thread titled, or who is the author? Or are you just poking? ETA: Found it. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=1030615 Maybe I'll challenge that poster. We'll see when each of us played their last 9 inning game of baseball. Me = 2007, in the SAMSBL. |

Quoted:
I didn't see a tag. So he's safe. The catcher didn't have his balance because he was leaning forward in anticipating of the collision. I agree on all counts. We instituted a "No Collision" rule here after a runner got hurt at 2nd base in 2005. He needed surgery, but I can't remember what for. Either slide, or give it up. |

Seriously, where do you play? I played in the SAMSBL here in town for 8 yrs. Second to last game in 2007, I threw to second from my knees - I catch. And I tore a bone chip off my shoulder. They removed it, and found my shoulder is just about ready to self destruct. Barry Davis from KENS-5 here in town played on my team, and had his shoulder rebuilt by some docs here. Barry's next year back, his arm was killing him. Not sure if it helped. I made an appointment after the mil removed the chip. They pretty much told me if I kept throwing, I would need a complete shoulder reconstruction. And basically my arm would never be the same, and that I seriously needed to consider giving up baseball. So I went back to playing hockey.

He stayed in the lane and was not tagged. The umpire got it right. |

Quoted:
He's safe and I'll tell you why: The catcher knew he missed. You can tell by his body language and the fact he didn't hang around to argue. (former catcher here) -p. QFTT The catcher jumped up and turned around to try another tag. He knew he didn't get him. Safe. |

Where in San Francisco do you or did you play? |

I watched several times then paused at the right moment. The catcher did reach up to tag and may have actually made contact with his mitt, but it is not clear whether he did or not. It is clearly his elbow that he sticks up into the air. That is not his mitt. |

Where in San Francisco do you or did you play? SAMSBL = San Antonio. http://www.samsbl.com/ I played on the 45+ cardinals. Entire league was restructured in (IIRC) 2004. Brackets used to be 28-37, 38-47, etc. Changed to 35-44, 45-54, etc. You could play on a younger team, but not on an older one. ETA: Just saw your state as FL. When I came back to the States in 98, went and visited my cousin in Ft Pierce. Had no idea the MSBL existed. Found out about it when I went to one of his games. I was a pretty damn good ball player in HS. My cousin was much better. Was offered a full ride at Univ of Mich. Instead, he became Int'l Master Councilor of Demolay. |

Quoted: Quoted: Was he tagged? There's your answer. Why is this even a question? Hell all you guys play is broom ball up there. Whaddya you know about baseball? How's that Lady Gaga thing working for ya? ![]() If there's two things I know real well in life, they are baseball and Lady Gaga. Thank-you-very-much |
I had a guy try that on me in a softball game one night. I got a good tag on him while he was still in the air. The first part of his body to hit the ground was the back of his neck on the plate. He sat in the dugout the rest of the game while his buddies tried to play full contact softball the rest of the evening. |
