My son's B-day is next week. Looking at Ipods since his old one is busted up. Does he really need a 16 or higher Gig
one or are the 8's ok?

He will be using it for music mainly, not much on games...
I am kinda old school, and 8 gigs seems to be a lot to me.

Don't want to spend no more than around $200-ish.

Suggestions?

I'd go with the 160 gig one if he really likes music more than internet surfing and other stuff.

It is somewhat dependent of the bit rate of his music and the amount of it.  I couldnt fit all of my music on a 64Gb if I tried because it is all in apple lossless format.

That being said what are you willing to spend and will he loose of break it in a hurry?  I would get the middle sized one.  If you are concerned about size you could always buy the Ipod classic since it is larger than the Ipod touch and I believe less expensive.

Find a 4th generation Ipod touch 32gb.  The 4th generation should be about $50 less than the 5th generation one around $250.00

Get as much as you can afford, he will undoubtedly want to get apps for it. They take alot of space. (ipod touch)

My 16gb holds a shit ton of music, but being a kid he's going to want it to be extra awesome. 32 gigs is a LOT of space.

Well...what he "wants" and what he get's are 2 diff. worlds. I know he will either loose it, or crack it....
typical teen stuff.

I think $200 is going to be my limit. I have found a few refurbished ones. most are 16 gig......I am leaning towards that.

You'ed be surprised at how quick memory fills up. I to recommend the 160 or whatever is the highest you can get.
