My dog chewed on my IPOD touch and now the screen is cracked. My desktop is synched with my kids Ipod so it's her library.

My touch has thousands of songs on it and hasn't been backed up to a disc. I plugged it into my new laptop and when i try to sync it it says it will sync the ipod to the library. It's gonna blank my ipod. I need to get all the stuff that's in my ipod into the library and don't know how.

Is there a way to get the music from the ipod to the library and not the other way around? Hivemind don't fail me now.

ETA I want to do this because I'm afraid it's gonna die because of the dents and all the dog drool it was coated in.

My desktop had my library. When my daughter got an ipod she synced it on my desktop. It erased my library when she did this in favor of her new device. I wasn't there to stop her.

There is a way to shift all of the music from your ipod to your daughters library.  My pothead brother did it for me once, so cannot require to heavy of mental gymnastics.  I would google "transfer music from ipod to library" and see what you get.  I remember him saying he downloaded the program for free.  I accidentally wiped my library about five years back, so can commiserate.  Be careful!

Google has steered me in this direction. There are free downloads but they have limited features. I may give it a shot though.
