Can someone explain this stupid cartoon to me? I understand that Inuyasha is a half dog demon looking for another demon named Niraku. But what the hell does Kigome have to do with any of this? Why are they looking for Niraku? What's the big deal with these Jewel shards? |

eh yep. +1 And mostly you hear about Anime from the nerds playing D&D. |
blah blah blah, japanimation bleh. |
For the most part the show is based on medieval Japanese mythology. During the dark ages we European types had our mythological creatures and folklore and the Japanese had theirs. The jewel shards and his modern-world girlfriend are merely cartoon plot devices. The show has grown on me somewhat, but I do wonder what the point of the plot line might be. They seem to roam from place to place for no particular reason and they aren't accomplishing anything. Many of the episodes shown lately don't involve the capture of a jewel shard. Yes, I am an anime fan. Yes, I do think a lot of the shows that make it across the pond are superior to most American animated shows. But I do not drool over cartoons just because they were made in Japan or because one show might contain more obscure Japanese cultural references (see Super Milk Chan) than the next. And I sure as heck don't spend money on DVD box sets, Anime-related gee-gaws, and all of that nonsense. I dated a chick who was heavily in the otaku (fanatical fan) scene two years ago. Never again. The whole lot of them are mentally unstable nutjobs with self-esteem issues. Galland |
