Is it good/bad/required for the person interviewing to ask the company/department when they will be choosing the person for the job at the end of an interview.

Lots of things can happen. They may make offers and negotiate and get shut down. The other may find a job elsewhere. They may change up the position or job requirements. Take the question and answer with a grain of salt. |

I've never heard anyone having a bad impression after being asked that question, and it doesn't irritate me when I'm asked either.
If I'm interviewing and they don't tell me during the interview when they're planning to decide, of course I ask. Once I had a company say they wanted me but it was taking them a while to get the paperwork etc. done because everyone was overworked / underwater. I let them slide for a week or so, but another company wanted me too and was begging for an answer. I told the first company this outright and said they had until the end of the week (two more days) to make up their mind. They brought me in that friday to get the paperwork done, and I started Monday. |
