IE 7 would kick ass if it didn't freeze up for about 5-15 seconds every time I tried to load a website...

For the average internet user, IE7 is a big improvement is safety and ease of use over IE6.  for everyone else it's a waste of disk space.

If you believe Firefox protects you from spyware you are deluding yourself. Firefox is no better that IE7 at stopping spyware.

There are no secure web browsers.

It doesn't do it alone, true.  There are a lot less "security holes" in a browser like Firefox than there are in IE.

You need stuff like a good anti-virus like AVG, Avast, etc., and a good anti-spyware like Ad-Aware.  Viruses, spyware and the like can still leak in but Avast and AVG can pick it up.

you'd be surprised.  At my college's computer labs, they run almost EXCLUSIVELY IE, although some use both IE and Firefox.  Except for the few Macs that I think use Safari or Firefox.

Firefox doesn’t do it at all. Firefox is no more secure than IE7 is some regards it is less secure, it is a myth that Firefox is more secure than IE7, IE6 yes but not IE7.

I would like to have $100 for every Smoe’s computer I had to clean up that said XX told me Firefox would keep me from getting spyware… well actually I do have that $100 or more.

Anti-virus and anti-spyware will give some protection… nothing will protect a stupid or reckless user.

There is no secure web browser… learn it, live it.

I love Firefox, but I spent an hour getting rid of crap that it picked up last night.  It was really a kind of funny virus.
