Shopping for insurance for 2 vehicles. 2nd vehicle is a 2008 Mustang GT500.
I've heard collector car insurance from some place like Haggerty's is fairly inexpensive compared to what I'm paying now. I plan on driving this car some, but have a daily driver. Any suggestions? No tickets or at fault claims in the last 5 years. Thanks in advance. |

Every time they jack up the rate, I shop, find a lower bid, contact Geico, and Geico undercuts the lowest bid by 10% For some reason, my insurance dropped slightly when I added a second vehicle. (I'm the only driver) |

Jesus, I just went through the insurance dance. I was dropped yesterday by Travelers. they were kind enough to give me a two week notice though.... Not only did I have a 20 yo with 5 tickets insured, but Had three major hits against my policy in the past 2-3 years. One I got rear ended by some bitch with no insurance and Travelers had to pay out $7000 to total my car. Wife's Honda Pilot got destroyed by a hail storm that caused $6000 in damage and my new car was driven into the side of my house by my son's friend causing $1500 damage. We were paying $5300 per year to Travelers Progressive wanted $10,000 per year to cover us. Moved my sons car to his ownership at his new address since he just moved out of town for college and bought two policys through GEICO. $3300 per year for each of us. As long as he is in school, we will pay a major portion of his insurance bill. But I also have a '66 Mustang GT Fastback with collectors insurance that is completely separate from my daily driver policy's. I use Heacock Classic. They seem to be the friendliest when it comes to putting mileage on a collectors car. But, there are stipulations. 1) Must be kept in a lockable garage when not driving it. 2) no one under 25 is allowed to drive it. 3) Must have a daily driver. And usually they want it to be a newer car, less than 10 years old. 4) Mileage is limited, but I think you can set your limits when you are buying the policy. 5) You cannot drive it to work, grocery store for routine shopping, etc. That being said, I only pay $325 a year for $30,000 agreed value. If you do go this route, be very careful reading your emails around renewal time. I kept getting emails from "American Mutual" and never really read them since I didn't have anything I knew of through American Mutual. Until I got a cancellation notice from them. Heacock is the agent for AM. I got that payment paid online real quick! |

Thanks guys, I'm still shopping around. Haggerty's is apparently affiliated w/progressive and they claim to be able to give a good rate.
Geico was in the 120 range for both cars, however they were trying to sell me only liability insurance on my primary vehicle. |

Yea, after realizing the price I've paid, I should have made him pay the entire $1500 and not just the deductible. Hell, he had a full bank account since he just returned from Afghanistan a few months earlier. |
