I cannot TELL you how many times I ran into this crap as a medic. First few times, you talk yourself silly all the way to the hospital- IF they even agree to transport. A lot of times, you walk out to the ambulance and they're getting in the car with him. After so many, you start saying less and less, you offer the help so they know it's there and don't think twice when you get called back again. I was lucky, in 10 years I didn't have to testify after someone got dead. Just hospitalized a few times. You learn quick enough, offer the help, if they don't want it you can't force it. Stop for coffee on the way back to the station, do your tripsheet, watch TV.
I miss being a medic, but not THAT shit.
