| My father in law is about to inherit a mess of guns. The guy leaving them lives in Texas, he is in Colorado. Is there any special rules for firearms as it relates to inheritances or is he going to have to mail every single one of them to a dealer in his home state and then pay $20 or whatever a weapon for the transfer? I assume it will be the latter, but I figured I'd ask. |

Drive to Texas and fill up the car with guns, and head home. Rent the appropriate vehicle to transport the guns if his current vehicle won't handle the load. Tell him to have a copy of the will in the car in-case he gets pulled over by the cops and they want to know where he got the guns. Note: This is not possible if any of the weapons are NFA. I think he'll have to do the NFA paperwork for those, but I believe he won't have to pay the transfer fee if he inherits them. Not real sure on this so check it out. |
