found this quote on what makes Inception better
While The Matrix most certainly dazzles like Inception with its incredible action sequences and futuristic style, it falters in its attempt at sustaining intellectual uncertainty. Once we know the differences between the matrix and the desert of the real, viewers can feel secure in understanding the distinction. Inception denies us this certainty, instead opting for the discomfort of leaving questions unanswered and mysteries unsolved.

Quoted: Quoted: There would not have been Inception without The Matrix which ripped off Dark City. Inception is a better movie, but The Matrix broke a lot of ground...that someone else already walked. Fixitated. Dark City, 13th floor ,eXistenZ and The Matrix all came around the same time don't think there was enough space between the 3 for much ripping off to be going on but Matrix was obviously by far the most successful |

I liked Inception better. Keanu is a one trick pony, and has been since Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. He just walks around looking surprised.
Leo is the better actor, in my humble opinion. Inception was a more lasting mindfuck than the Matrix. With Matrix, once you got it figured out what is and isn't the matrix, and established that physics don't apply in the Matrix, everything else is just eye candy. |

Inception by and far, some serious mind fuckery and thinking involved.
The best part of inception for me? The concept of controlling your dreams is actually possible, it's called lucid dreaming. We have all done it to some extent, but imagine being an architect of your dreams and controlling it. The things you could do in that world - the dream world - are amazing. Dreams are amazing shit to me. Shows the power of the brain and how little of our brain power we actually use. Think of the feelings some dreams cause you to have when you wake up from them sometimes - some of the most vivid and strong emotions and feelings, some stronger than real life, some that you would never otherwise experience - all because of a simple dream in your mind. |

That's a tough one. From a visual stand point, I'd say Matrix. From a trippin' balls stand point, I'd say Inception. I agree. The graphics of The Matrix are still awesome But Inception can dig into the core of your mind and fuck it. About what i was thinking. |

Dark City is a cheap shit low budget piece of garbage. Any thematic similarities The Matrix shares with it are forgivable since it took the sci-fi/actioner genre further than any one film since Terminator 2. |

Inception was for me a more thought-provoking, clever story and the visuals were stunning. Matrix was very good too....but the sequels have unfortunately tainted the memory. My favorite part of the entire Matrix franchise is the car chase in Reloaded... I liked Monica Bellucci's boobs. But that doesn't change the fact that, overall, the first Matrix movie was by far the best. |

the whole simulated reality thing ain't exactly a new idea either http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulacron-3 1964 and the wiki for this shows a couple other earlier books about mechanical simulated worlds |

And this was the reason I didn't like Inception's premise. As a fairly frequent lucid dreamer the whole "you don't know what is real and what isn't" is bullshit from my experience. |

Gonna have to say Matrix, at release and soon after on DVD I could watch multiple times and still get enjoyment. After the sequels it kind of lost its appeal and just sits collecting dust on the dvd shelf.
Inception was a good movie, but don't think I could watch it multiple times and still get enjoyment out of it. Probably get the DVD still just to have and watch if I so desire. |

The first time I saw Inception, I was really pumped about it. The acting was good, the story seemed good, and I didn't feel like I was robbed my admittance. Then the doubts started in. http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/1200/jipqwm.jpg There are a number of plot holes, and the concepts behind the movie are obvious. The questions it raises feel canned to me, and it seemed like they dumbed it down so everyone could follow it. It doesn't leave me with a blown mind, more of a "Huh, that was pretty neat. I can see what they meant to say." It's one of the best movies this year, but it's still far from perfect. –––– The Matrix was amazing at the time. It has its problems, namely with the sequels, but it was a great movie when it came out. Very similar to Inception to me. I agree for the most part. Neither movie "blew me away" at all. They were entertaining, but both are not philosophically "deep". |
