I have a C&R (which I don't think matters for this question) and would like to sell a K31 to another guy in my state, but he lives clear on the other side. Is it legal for me to complete the deal without going thru an FFL, just like we would do if we met face to face, by sending the rifle FedEx or something? No state law prohibits private transfers, and I understand the FFL rule is for state-to-state transfers. I would have to get his DL of course, for my bound book. So far as I can tell this is allowable. ATF link

I'm going to piggyback my question with yours so as not to have 2 similar threads running if you don't mind.
What about instate handgun sales,I know they can't be shipped USPS but do they need to go thru a FFL?
Thanks.

if you are selling to a resident of the same state, no FFL need be involved in the process unless state law requires it.
