With all the back door amnesty B.S. going on and "legal status" noise. So you pass this mess, you actually increase border security, there is still something undone in my opinion. What is the deterrent? After the new law what will keep illegals out? People will always go over, under, or around a fence if there is something better on the other side. Will it become a Felony?(no future chance of green card or immigration, no chance to vote or own a gun) Will you have to serve 6 months hard labor? Will you actually be deported? Beef up the border, great! But if you only have to pay a fine and get in the back of the line, what does it matter if you are sending bank back home or end up making bank here? Who needs "legal" status, or to learn a culture or language?
I say be sure to let your congress critters know there needs to be a real deterrent BEFORE any new legislation is done. I have let mine know. |
| There is almost no real penalty for illegally crossing the border. Cross once maybe get 10 days in jail and you are banned from leagally entering for 5 years. Illegally enter before the 5 years are up and you are banned for 10 years. Ilegally enter again and its 20 years. Ilegally enter one more time and you will never legally enter the US. Jail time varaies for each crossing but ive never heard of more than 6 months unless they did something else i.e. assault an agent or get busted drivng a load of MJ stuff like that. |
