Haha, my nephew turns 3 on Saturday, I told his mom I would make a Pinata, it is a Mickey theme party. This is my first Pinata, it is easy but time consuming. If you make one hang it under a ceiling fan to dry between layers, that'll speed things up.  Now I have to figure out how to put a mickey face on his head, that'll be fun.

I've always thought a scrotum pinata would be kind of funny. But I guess Mickey Mouse works too.

Why not just make it with paper and glue it on?

There is a way to use a grid when painting it, but someone else will have to tell you how.  You can get a great likeness and no talent needed.   Any artists out there?

ETA
What's a punching balloon?    Are you sure they are going to be able to bust it?  It sounds like tough material.

Thank you for the info, i will look into the grid idea. A punching ballon was used because of its larger size. I broke the ballon, it was used for the shape only. The Pinata is 6 layers of the Sunday newspaper. It feels strong but i will not find out until Saturday.

Actually, for a party favor designed to be bashed in with a stick, it looks pretty good!

Change your language to Spanish and it should show up.  Not too bad of a job on the Mickey head.

Looks good.  If it's just paper mache it might not hold up well to the stick, re-enforce it with a wire mesh

Edit:

OMG! Re-do the face

Great Job BStone. My daughter turned 7 yesterday and she wanted a pinata that looked like spongebob. I cheated and bought one at wal-mart. She liked it but was disappointed because those are not meant to be hit/broken. They have several strings and one of them opens a trap door when pulled.  Next year I'm gonna try to make it myself.
