wow.

daily prophecy updates.

Israel, Syria, the end is near.

Oh and all Catholics go to hell...

I listen to this daily ( i am catholic)..

The idiocy is fascinating.

this person destroys rosary's and saint medals etc...

Tries to convert everyone that calls in with something called the good test and the way of the master....

I wonder how many people are like this, it is really scary.

anyone else deal with this at work? how do you handle it?

Seriously...

I've known a couple of people with similar beliefs and found them pretty interesting. No reason to get personally offended, but I can see how being exposed to this at work with regularity would be seriously annoying.

ETA: There are really a couple of routes you can go, one is to tell him politely that you would rather not engage in religious discussion at work. If that doesn't work, or isn't an option for some reason then you'll either have to put up with it or take it to management and/or HR.

Pretty much outlined in the Bible as to what is going on. Arguably, Obama could be considered the Anti-Christ.
Link Posted: 11/20/2012 7:15:22 AM EST
I've seen this in several denominations, no group has a monopoly on tinfoil. I wouldn't lump an entire group in because of one guy. Btw, I'm Catholic as well.

The destroying of rosaries and medals is kinda , but whatever.

Ask the person if they wouldn't mind you helping yourself to their belongings the day of Rapture, since they won't be around to use them anymore and you're convinced you'll be left behind.

They talk about sin, but what about their sin of stealing from the company by not doing their job?

The hypocrisy gets me.

Not surprising

My Father told me that when I was born in 1980, he was convinced that the rapture would happen within the next few years. He read some Hal Lindsey books and went to some pretty silly evangelic sermons/lectures...he's since mellowed out quite a bit

Wait for him to leave the room. Everybody leave spare sets of clothes laid out on the chairs or in mid-action poses. Everyone then has to run outside and flash torches through the window. Bonus points if someone can play a bugle.

I work with an atheist who rails against public Christmas displays.

Good point. I edited my comments above to include what I believe are your options.

The evangelical atheists are probably the most annoying of all.

This.

My mom's scary churches were all about it. Everything on the news would tie into some end times correlation.

No long term plans, keep your shit on lock down, dont sleep naked, because the end of the world is days away

I'm sure they are frothing over this Gaza thing.

Tell him they've uncovered an original version of Revelations and it turns out there was a misprint - it was supposed to be VelociRapture, when everyone gets eaten by dinosaurs!

If I had an employee doing the part in red to customers while on the clock I would want to know about it. Then they would either stop doing it or be looking for a new job.

In before your coworker gets fired, then post his indignation on ARFcom GD for getting fired for a "small religious" comment at work.

People need to STFU at work and do their job!

My thoughts exactly. To have odd religious views is fine. To attempt to convert customers would be a HUGE no no.

Link Posted: 11/20/2012 7:30:35 AM EST
I just generally state that I don't buy into Dispensationalism and that's the end of that. If they press I explain that I firmly believe that Christians will not be spared from the coming Tribulation and that we had best be ready for it. Anything further and I remind them that we are getting paid to do a job and it ain't theology.

I'm not a religious person, but I do have a strong belief in this: religion is not an appropriate workplace conversation topic.

I'm sure that's true of most Christians, just like most atheists don't sit around bitching about nativity scenes on the lawn at city hall.

It's the loudmouths that make other people miserable.

I do, the person keeps talking to me about it, telling me stories and asking me questions.

I got real pissed once when they said the catholics removed the graven image commandment fromthe 10 commandments.

I started ripping back and finished the conversation with "come back to me when you get a masters in theology"

This idiocy and blatant lies and talking down about other people's faith, or absence of, is very offensive.
Link Posted: 11/20/2012 7:33:45 AM EST
What's bad about believing in the rapture?

I did when I was a Christian...And I wasn't Evangelical.

As for the guy destroying rosaries and stuff, I sort of
feel about that the same way Gene Simmons felt about
churches burning KISS records. He said; "Please buy
and burn as many as you like."

If it's people's personal property, I think it's time for a trip to HR

Converts are so fucking annoying.

I'm RC and friends with RC converts from Southern Baptists. It's like the worst of both worlds.

ETA: This guy also sounds like a walking HR complaint file.

Tell them to STFU if it bothers you. Problem solved.

I have found that telling people to STFU is pretty damn effective.

My current job doesn't have any lefties, so it's safe to say "FBO" at work, though we don't talk politics much.In a place with a larger/mixed group of people, I avoid politics entirely .

the south is full of these retards.

one of the main reasons I left.

I grew up hearing this crap,

my folks are baptist, but not too serious.

I did ask them for the combination to the safe, incase the rapture happened, and my mom said,

oh, but you're saved, so you wont be here either..........
Link Posted: 11/20/2012 7:40:54 AM EST
Just find a new job, not easy I know but I couldn't tolerate that and since he's not getting fired you don't have many options.
