| Can anyone recommend me a cheap reader? This is for a BMW E 36 OBD I compliant car. I'd rather own the tool than pay the dealer $150 or so for the diagnostics. Especially sInce I might need it again. I already have a diagnostics computer for the regular stuff just not the ABS. Any help is appreciated. |

If you have an Iphone use this app: http://www.devtoaster.com/
android: use torque Purchase a bluetooth ELM327 reader that plugs into ODB dong. This does not clear hidden codes if I remember correctly. Only the ones that are displayed. |

Sorry, I read OBD I and no ABS.
Need a round connector scan tool or Bosch Hammer. I have one, and they aren't cheap. What I would do is jack it up and check the signal at all four wheel speed sensors. If they are all ok, I'd check the relays on the control unit. After that, i'd find someone who has a scan tool and would let me use it. |

Its an intermitten problem so I dont know if that'l work. I'm leaning toward the ABS unit itself. I already replaced the grey and red relays. |

I mean disconnect the connectors and rotate the wheels while watching the bar graph display on a digital multimeter. If it doesn't pulse, you have a bad sensor. |
