I hate my bank.

I tried to purchase an ACOG for the last 3 days, and have only successfully managed to get my debit card locked not once, but 3 times!

This after calling and giving them the heads up and some very large purchases where coming up.

My bank is using the shazam security service because apparently they got hacked and a lot of money stolen.
Apparently Shazam and my bank cant get ANYTHING sorted out and agree with each other.
So its locking up my account do to suspicious charges for anything over $1200 USD....

A credit card issuer wouldn't have a problem with your purchase.

I have no bank issues since switching from a large national bank to a local credit union.

It's Operation Chokehold.  Eric Holder doesn't like gun/ammo companies so he threatens banks that facilitates transactions with them.

Indeed. And oddly enough after converting all my spending to my credit card about 5 months ago, my debit card was fraudulently used 4 days ago

I'd never use a debit card for online purchases, in case of fraud you have to fight to get your money back vs is used a card you have to dispute a charge

It has been my experience that when trying to get your money back from a fraudulent credit card purchase, you are treated as "innocent until proven guilty". There's usually no hassle in getting the charge reversed.

When fraudulent debit card charges, you are "guilty until proven innocent". The bank simply doesn't like giving that money back without putting you though a bunch of hoops.

In fact, I got a little story about that. One of the first times my debit card number got stolen, there was a fraudulent charge of over $250 on a insurance deductible placed on my card. I discovered it immediately and called the card issuer to cancel the card. When I got ahold of my bank, they made me have a 3 way conversation with the insurance company and my bank rep to interrogate me about whether I made the charge or not. Finally, after going through several more hoops, I got the money back into my account a week or two later.

With my credit card issuers, it's pretty much been been "Hey, I didn't make this charge." "Ok sir, we'll take care of it".

Why not do it the old fashioned way.  Write a check, put it in an envelope, address the envelope, put on a stamp and drop the envelope in a blue box on the corner that says U.S. Mail.

Completely wrong. Same process for both other than the money being out of you account for a day or two. I have used nothing but a debit card since 1991 and don't own a credit card

If you have money, you don't  need credit!

That's the mantra of the financially ignorant.

If you have money you should use credit because they pay you to.
A brokeass with a 500 credit score should stick to cash and debit.
