On my main drag yesterday I noticed a big ass ground hog that was roadkill on the side of the road. He looked normal looking other than being on his back and dead. I mean he wasn't a massive red bloody pulp like most roadkill is, he was still intact. Today: Still there but now he has that bloated, distended, "I'm going to explode in a few days" look. Tomorrow: I don't want to know but have a feeling I'll find out when I go to the village to FEDEX a package. I just hope he doesn't explode as I drive by. ![]() Guess it could be worse, it could be a deer.... |
| We were pheasant hunting in South Dakota a couple years ago. Walking along the "oil" (as they called paved roads years ago) back to the truck my dad noticed a roadkilled racoon on the side of the road. It was flat as could be and dried out. Something seemed odd about it. Then I noticed that they had restriped the road and the coon had a stripe right across it. I should have taken a picture. |

There was a dead racoon on the side of the road last summer near the airport in a not so nice neighborhood. We passed the thing at least once every 2 days. It kept getting bigger and bigger until it looked like a furry round ball. One day it must have popped or got hit again by a car because it had splattered all over the road and was flat. The smell was unimaginable. |
