Is anyone else watching this series? Story development is kind of slow, but the suspense makes it worth watching.
Maybe it's from growing up reading and watching science fiction, however I find the idea that machines can become so advanced they can be mistaken as humans or make humans obsolete to be interesting, yet creepy. I also like the humorous comparisons to current technologies with regards to primary and secondary users, and access control. |

The story is beginning to ramp up. Several questions I have are beginning to get answered.
My first question was how long there have been synths in production. Since it appears Anita/ Mia has been around for 14 years, this explains why we don't see any less complex, less human looking models in existence. It appears there is some sort of recycling initiative to pull older models out of circulation. This makes me wonder if the corporation that makes the synths wants older models out of the field because they are aware of the existence of sentient models? Since the self-aware synths are aware the difference between them and other synths lies in 17,000 pages of code, it makes me wonder about how their minds are organized. If they can isolate the code that makes them different, you'd think sentience would be possible by pasting code. |

I watch it... mostly because it comes on before Halt and Catch Fire.
I think it has some good story threads going, but I can't really appreciate any of the cast except William Hurt. His character is the only one that I really feel any sort of interest in. The other characters all feel like cogs in a very predictable trope machine, there only to push the story forward rather than generate any pathos. |

I bet it will get renewed... because it is not a completely domestic show.
It is being made by a partnership between AMC and BBC Channel 4, and from what I have read it is a hit on BBC4. I bet AMC will go along with a renewal as they are only paying for half a show but getting a whole show in return. My money is on Halt and Catch Fire not being renewed. I like it far more than Humans, but every snow I like winds up getting cancelled. |

Quoted:
Not without its charm and although not science fiction the best that just wrapped up is Deutschland 83 (not trying to hijack). That show looked interesting form the few times I was flipping through the channels. If I dvr'd and watched everything of interest, I'd never get anything done. Humans just wrapped up as well, and as a season I liked the mystery part of it, but I doubt a second season would be in the works. |
