Drudge Report drives me absolutely BONKERS!  That web page refreshes about once per minute.  Even Foxnews updates too fast for my liking.

In prior versions of Internet Explorer, there was a user/client side control for when and if a web page gets updated.  I am under the impression Microsoft took that control away from the client and the web page owner now controls the refresh rate.

Is there a client side control for how frequently a web page refreshes/updates?  I'd be happy if I could just stop it and use manual refresh.

This says it's how to do it in IE. I haven't tried it as I don't use IE. I hate Drudge's auto refresh.

I just installed this for Firefox. I'll see how it works.

Have you tried noscript?  I use it and I've never noticed Drudge auto-reloading on me.

I had already disabled the meta-refresh.  It does not stop Drudge from refreshing.

What is noscript?  I've ever heard of it.  Is it a safe application/extension?

I see, so, its a Firefox add-on.

I use Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

I can't imagine why, short of company policy, anyone would use IE.

DrudgeReport.com does not use the standard HTML refresh commands; it uses javascript.  To stop it from refreshing, you will need to turn off javascript support for that site.

After trying several different remedies and having all of them fail, I tried a novel approach.

I sent an email to Drudge Report asking how to stop it on my end (and suggesting they stop it on their end).
