When going out of town for a few days how much ammo do you take with you. Also how many guns? Do you only take your carry pistol or do you always bring a rifle as well.

I used to only carry a pistol in the truck with an extra mag, but now I find myself always throwing one of my AR's and around 100rnds under the back seat.

Where are you going?

I take my CCW and a spare mag if I'm going anywhere that allows it. A rifle is much more likely to be stolen out of your truck or hotel room than you ever finding a need for it.

I usually grab a few extra, like a rifle and shotgun or pistol. Usually grab a few mags worth of ammo for the rifle, 100 or so shotshells, and 100 or so rounds for the pistol.  This is in addition to the pistol and rifle I always have with me or I keep in the truck.

I'm going to my inlaws for the weekend, it's only about a four hour drive. I travel a lot for work and generally only take one of my pistols unless I'm going straight to a plant then I can't take anything with me.

Depends on where I'm going.

Last month, I traveled to Miami with a Kahr CM9

Thanksgiving I went to Mobile with a G26

When I go to Memphis in a few weeks, I'll take a G19 and Yugo AK with 6 30 rounders

I do not get to take any firearms usually because I work in refineries and power plants and I do not like leaving guns in a hotel room.  But I usually find a way to carry a pistol at the least.

I typically carry with a reload or sometimes two.

If traveling a long distance and having to stay the night somewhere, I typically pack a rifle, too.

For me, it's not so much time as distance.  Short trip (<500 miles, relatively quick/easy to get back home), I just have a handgun and a few extra mags.  I have a console vault in my truck, so I don't even have to do anything extra.  The stuff I want is already in there.

Longer trip (more than a day from home), especially with the family, one of the rifles comes along too, with 4-5 extra mags of various flavors - M855, TAP, etc.

We take a 2-3 week vacation once a year, very long distance.  Both rifle and shotgun come along for that - saiga 12 or rem 870.

Depends upon where I'm going.  Typically it's just my 1911 with a couple of spare mags and my P3AT.  Only carry a rifle if I'm going to be on a long trip in places where I wouldn't have cell service and may not be found for days if something were to happen.  Even then, it would be more for four legged critters rather than two legged ones.

no not really.
fully loaded handgun of choice.
just enough to get me to the ar-15.
that's all a handgun is for, afterall.
ar + 10 mags.
if 300 rds isn't enough to get me out/home/safe/alive,
then god has different plans for me.

Depends where I'm going.  Usually it's my EDC 1911 and 2 spare mags.  If I'm going on vacation out in the middle of nowhere then I'll take my AR and a few magazines.  The house we rent in the Texas hill country is in the middle of nowhere.   You have to drive about 10 minutes to get cell service.  Nearest town is about a 20-30 minute drive.  Don't think anyone would bother us out there but if they did, we'd be on our own.  Plus, there are a few predators out there that may look at my Dachshunds as cocktail weenies.

My in-laws are pretty irritating, but I don't feel I need to load up for them.

Carry regular carry and a back up. Why? Heaven forbid I get involved in a use of force action and my weapon gets picked up or it is stolen, I have an extra as backup.  Some might think it is crazy, but if you are hundreds of miles from home, what are you going to do?  Friend is a LEO and went traveling to Florida. His Bersa .380 was stolen out of his car  in Alabama while he ate at a restaruant. It was his personal gun. He hated the feeling of traveling the rest of his trip unarmed and could not by law buy another handgun as he was from Texas and in Alabama.

This is pretty reasonable, and may or may not be what I do too.

I keep a G17 with three 17 round mags and one 31 round mag, and an AR with 7 mags in the truck at all times.

Plus whatever I am carrying for my EDC (Usually a G17 and 1-2 spare mags)... I have most things covered.

If I go somewhere and do not park my truck in a garage overnight, all of that comes in with me.  I always try to slide in a side door and be sure to politely smile at the other patrons in the hotel as I walk by with an obvious black soft rifle case.

That gives me a pistol for each of us, plus a rifle for the big nastys.
