My brother has a Yellow Lab. If you take your eye off that little bastard for even a second (literally), he'd be into stuff tearing it up. That dog has WAY too much energy.

Great dogs. I have a female yellow lab and she's a big baby (2+ years old), but protective of the family.

Mine is believe it or not 14. When he sleeps sometimes I have to hit him with my wheelchair to see if he's still breathing. Doesn't do anything wrong, well he doesn't do anything period. My brother thinks he's not really a yellow lab but a "yellow carpet sloth". He moves that slow!

I really wanted a lab but couldn't afford one that was preassembled so I got one that is a lab lower with a pitbull upper... but she's chocolate colored not yellow.  Can I still socialize with y'all?

BTW, just imagine how mouthy labs are the first two years of their lives and match that with a pit's potential for destruction... I don't the the sofa will ever recover!  [:D]

are my favorite breeds.

the yellow's look nice but it is actually a recessive gene-they tend to have more allergy problems than the chocolates and the blacks are the most healthy of em all.  i own a black.  she is awesome.  she will eat your shoes if you leave her alone with them tho.  i work in a vet clinic in northern MN, and i have seen yellow labs run full bore head first into a wall and not be stunned!  of course mine runs str8 into my head and keeps going too.  great dogs, gotta love a lab even if they eat weird stuff and cost you $1000's to surgically remove it.

I have a yellow lab and a rottie.

The lab is a 4 year old girl, and is without a doubt the funniest creature I have ever known. She is THE coolest!

I like labs, especially yellow ones...reminds me of "old yeller" (sob, sob), but I love Alaskan Malamutes.

Here's a picture of my first one "splash" taken in 1978 at Coho Hall, Detroit.

I had a yellow lab that got to be about two and a half years old but I had to have him put down because he got some bad health problems.  It was soooooo sad one day he was fine and the next day he just layed down and was breathing hard and irregular.  The vet said something about kidney and liver disease and a bad blood infection.  They said they could try and treat it but it would cost about $400 bucks a day and most of the time it doesn't work anyway.  As much as I loved that dog I was not going to spend that much money on treatment that probably wouldn't work.  But he would chew everything in sight until I put him through obedience school.  Now my roomie has a black lab that is about 3 or 4 years old.  She is an absolute awesome dog.  She lets me know whenever someone comes around the house.  Her only downfall is if we leave her in the house alone she will get in the trash in the kitchen.

Got a chocolate thats probaly 10 yo. Don't know for sure because she showed up as a stray, the wife fell in love and now 4 years later we still got her. The weird thing is that when she showed up she was trained and house broke, so after to weeks when nobody claimed her then it was to bad she's ours now. Its amazing how smart these dogs are, almost to smart for thier own good.

I just bought a black lab in Feb. Being a consulting forester, the woods get  lonely so I bring her every day with me.  She is great!  After lunch she will usually lay behind me and rest her head on my shoulder and I lay my head on her back and take a short nap.  She has really gotten good at pointing grouse, no joke, she might become my bird dog at this rate.

I couldn't afford real black labs either, so I used Lab lowers and put a Austrailian Shepard upper on one, and a German Shepard upper on the other.

Clinton has banned the import of any more foreign Shepards.

They are both great dogs.

Mine is 2 1/2 male, Nick.  He comes to the office with me everyday, and is a great companion.  I put a sidecar on my Harlay and he loves to ride.  Does about 5,000 miles a year.  A really great dog, but has a lot of energy and requires constant training.

I have a 6yr old yellow lab "pup". He refuses to grow up and at 105 lbs he plays a little rough-not mean at all-just doesn't realize how strong he is. He drives my wife & kids nuts when he puts his front paws on their shoulders and gives them a "kiss"-usually they end up on the on their can with lots of dog drool on their faces.

No lab, But I got a really cool Beagle.  Other than barking like a big dog, she's not much for home defense. She did bite my landlord once though. He had it coming.
