Right now my drive takes about 15 minutes on clear drives, 20-25 minutes with traffic.
Considering a new job that will be 25 minutes on a clear drive, and 30-35 with traffic. That's starting to get long for me. I need to decide if a better job is worth an extra 20-30 minutes per day in the car. |
|
Quoted: 16 miles each way. Ironically, my RX7 gets 16 miles per gallon on average, so 8 gallons gets me through a 4 day work week. My gay-ass Lexus hybrid has averaged 40.1 mpg since I've owned it. It'll stay on EV mode and the gas motor won't even run for most of my 1.5 mile commute if I go easy. I could probably commute to work and back all year on a tank of gas. But I don't drive to work every day. |
| I live exactly 15 miles from door to door from my work. With absolutely no traffic I can get to work in about 18 minutes. During the week its usually between 20 and 30 minutes, mostly near 30 minutes. At least a couple of times a week there is an accident on the freeway so it takes me about 40 minutes. |
|
When I worked, it was between 5-10 miles. I could get to work by freeway, or several surface routes. Freeway was the longest distance but usually, the shortest time. The surface routes were scenic and relaxing. The freeway was anything but scenic and relaxing.
Now, I'm retired and I take the bus (my workplace was also my healthcare provider, and now, it's no longer my workplace but still is my healthcare provider). 35 cents each way for us senior citizens. |
|
Quoted:
130 miles round trip. If I'm lucky it takes about 55 minutes from driveway to driveway. On a bad day it can take an hour and a half or more. I would kill myself if forced to do that. This job opportunity would be a great upgrade and make me happier at work, but adding an extra 20-30 minutes per day has me seriously considering turning it down. |
