Totalitarianism is when some dictator owns the means to production.

Democratic socialism is when the author is the dictator.

The author would like to convince EVERYBODY, that way it's not totalitarianism. But since you can't convince everybody democratic socialism that isn't totalitarian is impossible.

Orwell, IIRC.

It makes perfect sense, unless you insist that all socialist states eventually slide to totalitarianism.

And you can't have even democratic socialism without a large amount of .gov control.
