"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it."

Totalitarianism is when some dictator owns the means to production.

Democratic socialism is when the author is the dictator.

The author would like to convince EVERYBODY, that way it's not totalitarianism. But since you can't convince everybody democratic socialism that isn't totalitarian is impossible.

They don't?

And you can't have even democratic socialism without a large amount of .gov control.
