True, but many people do live a "average" or "standard" life.

My brother virtually duplicated my dad's life - college, accountant, wife, 2.3 kids, dog, house in suburbia, 2 vacations a year, etc....   There is little in his life that stands out as different.

Does working 100 hours a week constitute normal?

I'm pretty conventional these days. I was even in bed at midnight last night. For a Saturday.....   I think I'm getting old...

I think my life has been quite extraordinary at times.

I would hazard a guess that your brother does not feel that his life is as cut and dried as you beleive it to be.

Boringly normal.

I'm sure he wouldn't.   But his "big challenges" in life are daily fare for me.

But my question is open ended - "unusual" for you could be wealth (), travel, military service, whatever you think is not normal, not average.

I think it is human nature to strive for the best.  So there is no abnormal or strange, just people doing what they can do.

compared to what?
For an American, I lead a very unusual life.  Which is to say, pop culture has virtually no influence on the way I act, what I buy, or my general outlook.  As a 21 year-old, I am a walking exception.

I think I am very boring and risk averse, but others think I have very dangerous interests and am constantly doing interesting things.

It is all perception.

Not too typical. I served the US Navy.

Mine ranges from being between a fuckin' mess to a total three-ring circus.

Something off the wall is CONSTANTLY happening to me.

Last night someone dropped in on me and asked me this:

"Do I have the pleasure of addressing Mr Barnum or Mr Bailey?"

Beats boredom.

Plain Jane.
Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.
Watching the days go by.......

I thought I was the only one.

I hardly ever watch TV (unless it's something educational, like something on Discovery or History.  I do occasionally watch The Simpsons and a few other shows, but it's rare), and I don't even own a TV.  I never listen to modern music (but listen to a heck of a lot of pre-20th century music), I don't wear something just because it's "cool", I don't have piercings/tatoos, I don't cuss and use other kinds of crude language in public, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't gamble, and I have never purposefully missed a college class in my 6.7 semesters so far.  I guess I'm kind of weird.

. . . and proud of it.

I don't know what is normal anymore.

I thought I used to along time ago.

I got a new action figure for my birthday...my 40th B-day.

Is that normal?
