There are 3 of us presenting 3 cases in our Society and Law course. Well, 2 of these people are decided that they would debate one of the cases against each other, leaving the other 2 cases for me.
I said I would do the written briefs for both cases, present one of them, and the other case would fall on one of them to present. They agreed, and all was well. But....Today, one of them emails me asking if I can just present both cases since I did the written briefs for both of them. So, I get to do 4x the work, since 2 of them are splitting one case. fuck that. |

The good news is that school will be over soon.
The bad news is that you will likely end up in a job that entails group projects, although it not be called such. These will make your negative college experience seem like a cakewalk. Moral of the story: Have a beer. Try to get some perspective and enjoy college. -Z |
I am normally the poor sap who is pushed to do the whole damn project since I want a good grade. In one class, I insisted on ONLY editing the parts of the project and compiling them into one coherent paper. Well, since the parts were so bad, I ended up rewriting everything. Since one group member came to the opposite conclusions, I rewrote that section. I was appalled by how bad it was. So, I rewrote it, turned it in, and the rough draft was only a C, when it would have been an F otherwise. I continued fixing it up, and got an A on the final draft. ![]() |

in high school and a few times in college, the teachers would assign groups based on class average... ie: put a smart student with a bunch of underachievers and have them carry the group...
you can take a wild guess which one i was... i hated group projects... eventually in junior/senior year of college we got to pick our own groups which worked out well... at that time i was working full time at my current job and taking 6-9 credits per semester, so i would pair up with other working adults, and we would get it done... group work over virtual classes (online, distance learning, etc) is even WORSE... despite being internet based, i would always get the one asshole who would "not have email or IM" or "couldn't reply to forum messages"... typically it was some lazy foreign student, usually indian girls, who would whine and complain to the professor... i had one email me a single powerpoint slide with nothing of relevance on it, then tell the professor they did their portion and myself and another guy were "jeopardizing her grade", i forwarded the professor all of her BS emails where she said she couldn't meet up or IM me and the crappy slide she sent me, all of course from my work email address... after finals i got an email from her asking about the project and what we got as a grade, because she failed the course... i was happy the instructor was a logical human being and not the typical knee jerk liberal professor |
