Poach small game with an air rifle.
Grow food. Seed potatoes are cheap and you can get 6-10 eyes per spud. Register for the AFDC, USDA food programs and the like would round it out. There are too many alternatives other than those posted. If the poorest in our nation can get enough food to become obese, food is the LEAST worry. In China, housing is cheap but food is expensive. The majority of the wages are spent on food for all but the upper classes. China has a LARGE rural population. Here, its opposite. |

+1 I've known a few people that have been close to resorting to "criminal" activities in order to provide for their families, and there wasn't anything most of those people could have done differently to avoid the situation. |

I'd engage in any kind of trade to raise funds. I'd hunt. Participate in a revolution if my pathetic situation were caused by a totalitarian regime.
But what I would NEVER do is steal. To do so would only drag someone else down closer to a pathetic level of poverty. Part of morality is recognizing the inherent benefits of moral behavior. Never behave in an immoral fashion just because it is the most convienient thing to do. |

Give plasma $30 a week(in 1996) for 2 visits
 I did that for a while when I was a single parent, then I swallowed my pride and asked my father for some money till I paid off the x wife bills. Hell I also had wic (free milk. bread and cereal) when I was a single dad. With all the programs its hard to understand why anyone would go hungry. Also I would sell my ARs to feed my family. Hell 2 ARs could feed the family for several months. FREE |

If there were no jobs to be had I would start selling all my property to feed my family before I did any of the things in your list. It is also good to be prepared. Having enough savings to live for 6 months is a good thing.

None of the above are particularly creative.
Breakfast is pretty easy to find in the wild or tide pools. Costco gives out free samples most of the day. I know plenty of people who use their lunch break to eat free at Costo. The catholic church serves dinner for free 5-nights a week. The fast food places throw out lots of stuff at closing time. So do the grocery stores. |
