Used to people got pissed if someone posted a link that wasn't hot. Now it seems like the trend is to post links that are intentionally cold. Why the change? |

For polls and such, it's proper to leave the link cold, otherwise the target site can determine the referencing site (it's included in the request your browser sends) and weed out all of those votes. For other things like videos...make 'em HOT! |

For other things like videos...make 'em HOT! This, plus some are just to lazy to hotlink. Or, they've learned what linkification is, and expect everyone else to use it too. |
