I have wanted to put a marshmellow on the end of my Mauser to see what it would be like after a few clips of Turkish ammo...

Sadly, I have never seen a fireball come from my mosin.

I need to shoot later in the evening.

Run a bore brush soaked in gasoline down the barrel before you take a shot and you'll have a fireball in no time!

Nice pic.

How come your bayo was not in the full extend and lock position???

Were you shooting for show, or have you adjusted your sights for bayo stowed??

just plinking at clays at about 60 yards.

not my head, I'm out of the frame at the bottom. This shot was actually taken about 75 yards away up on a ridge with a telophoto lense.

it's a 1950s era US army winter NCO coat.

I think the Mosin spike bayonet would be better for marshmellows than a Mauser blade bayo......
I need to get a M44 Mosin, my bubba-ized M38 is nice but no pigsticker.

Be advised that the M91, 91-30 and M44 have their sights calibrated to be fired with the bayonets on/extended. There can be as much as a 1 foot change in the POI at 100 yards. An M44 typically shoots way left if shot with the bayonet closed. Of course, this can be changed by adjusting the front sights, but why not just extend it and see if the factory sighting still applies.

Note: If you want to see a fireball out of an M44, see if you can find some 1980s Soviet LPS ammo that was available a few years ago. Destined for PK machine guns, it is hot and zero consideration appears to have been given to flash in terms of power chemistry. It would double that fireball.

All 3 of the M44s we have, have been re-calibrated at one point or another. They shoot fine without bayonets extended.
