I like being self sufficient to a certain degree, and like doing projects.  I already reload, brew my own beer and am pretty damn good at making BBQ.  So the other day I decided to cure some homemade bacon.  I have never done this before but from what I found on line it looks pretty easy.  Today I picked up a couple of fresh pork bellies.  My question is to those that have done this before, are there any tips I should know before I start.  What are the things to look out for, also what types of "cures" do you use and like?

If this comes out as good as I predict I will post pics.  I really would like some advice from those that have done this already.

If you can't search, sift through the thread titles or buy a membership.
